I like his football. He is a legend for City and I’m learning a lot from him.”
Man Utd captain Ashley Young: A deserved winby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester United captain Ashley Young was pleased with victory over Leicester City.United earned a 1-0 win at Old Trafford yesterday.”When you play as a defender, you want to keep a clean sheet and hope the boys up the top can go and get the goals,” said Young.”On days you’re not going to play well and you’re going to win games. On days you’re going to play well and not win games.”There’s going to be a balance and we just want to do the right things and keep applying ourselves the way we have this season.”I think we have been unfortunate, especially at Southampton the other week. I think it was unfortunate against Crystal Palace as well.”I think we’re very close [to getting it right]. It wasn’t a bad performance. I didn’t think it was a bad performance.”If we had gone on and got a second goal after we got the first then it would have been totally different.”But, like I say, we had to show that resilience and that grit and that determination not to concede a goal and we done that today.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
Van der Gijp: Gerrard drunk recommending Liverpool’s Johnston to Feyenoord!by Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Liverpool fullback George Johnston has been slammed in Holland.Feyenoord teammate Liam Kelly, signed from Reading, is also being hammered as the Rotterdam giants struggle in the early rounds of the season.Former Holland striker Rene van der Gijp has rapped Feyenoord coach Jaap Stam for signing the pair.He told Veronica Inside “I must honestly say: also it is a sign of inability for Jaapie to take on Liam Kelly. “I mean: we saw that boy play half a game, then we all said: ‘That’s not the one in midfield who Feyenoord can count on’. Come on, dude. “Also loaning (sic) George Johnston has not worked out well for Feyenoord. He called Steven Gerrard for that. He said, ‘He’s very good’, but he was drunk!”Rangers boss Gerrard worked with Johnston as Liverpool U23 coach. TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

john lloyd cincinnati butch jonesLast week, a number of rumors regarding Tennessee head coach Butch Jones – including a claim that he punched a player this past summer during practice – made the rounds on social media. This Monday, Jones commented on the rumor, calling it “absolutely ridiculous.” Wednesday night, one of Jones’ former players made an interesting claim on Twitter regarding the situation.Former Cincinnati punter John Lloyd, who played for Jones from 2010-2012, told his followers that he saw Jones hit players “multiple times” during his time with the Bearcats. He also joked that Jones “probably” made Cincinnati’s video crew delete practice footage. LOS ANGELES – NOVEMBER 11: General view of action as the Oregon Ducks take on the USC Trojans on November 11, 2006 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. The Trojans defeated the Ducks 35-10. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)USC knocked Utah from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 42-24 victory tonight. During the win, USC wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster knocked a Utah defender clear out of the field of play with a nasty stiff-arm. It’s been speculated that Smith-Schuster was pointing at the defender to call him out to come get stiff-armed, but it looks like he was just trying to signal for more downfield blocking. Nasty play though.
Mauricio Pochettino has offered a cryptic response to questions about Christian Eriksen’s future, with the Tottenham midfielder yet to sign a new contract. The Denmark international is one of few senior stars yet to pen a long-term extension to his current deal, and unsurprisingly rumours have arisen regarding his future. As one of the most productive creative influences in the Premier League, a number of leading sides across Europe are keeping a close eye on his situation in north London. La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid would welcome the opportunity to snap up a player of Eriksen’s pedigree, and the transfer door may swing open at some stage.Pochettino has been unable to close it, and when quizzed on his efforts to tie the key man down a long-term contract, he said: “Football is so dynamic. It changes every day, every season.”It depends not only on your decision, but it is always a player’s decision.”Now is a moment to enjoy our present.”Of course, it is a person that the club wants for the future, but now we need to be focused – a player like him is focused and tries to deliver a great performance in the way that we need.“A decision is going to happen at the end of the season or [maybe] a decision will happen in the next few days, in January.”Football is so dynamic – it is decision, decision, decision.”I hope we are going to take the best decision for the club and hope the player can take the best decision for them and for the club – it is about negotiation and many things that happen.”Football is so dynamic, always you need to move on.”So, Pochettino has suggested that an agreement could be reached in January. He has also conceded that Spurs may need to “move on”.With little clarity being offered by those at Tottenham, it remains to be seen what the future has in store for a man who has delivered four goals and seven assists this season.
Bayern Munich find themselves in the unusual position of playing catch up in the Bundesliga, with their first match after the winter break a trip to Hoffenheim.Though Niko Kovac’s side finished 2018 in fine form, they trail Borussia Dortmund by six points and can ill-afford a slip against opponents who are chasing European football next season.A sixth win in succession, however, would send a message to BVB that the title race is far from over as the new year begins. As at the beginning of the season, you hope to start with a very good result. We need that, and we all know it.”Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann will celebrate his 100th Bundesliga match, despite being only 31 years old. After an injury crisis struck his squad in the first half of the campaign, he is eager for his players to put up a strong fight.“It’s important not to run up the white flag when the red bus arrives,” he said. “Bayern are under a certain amount of pressure on Friday. If they don’t win the match it’s a signal for the other teams at the top.”
